Thinking Highways : North American Edition

Thinking Highways quarterly magazine for the advanced transportation management and Intelligent Transportation Systems markets. This will also bring in other areas such as homeland security, cross-border mobility, public transit and rapid response, not forgetting the more traditional elements of the industry, such as urban traffic control, detection and traffic information issues.

Editorial

Thinking Highways comprises features, case studies, interviews, location reports, opinion pieces and commentary from expert columnists. When combined with its stunning visuals, courtesy of its award-winning design teams, this will make for a highly readable, fascinating, entertaining and technically rich publication with a wonderfully contemporary look.

Thinking Highways doesn't just focus on technology issues, but places equal emphasis on policy, strategy, implementation, politics, finance, integration, urban design and aesthetics.

Issues

By splitting Thinking Highways into two regional editions, readers and advertisers alike have the choice to either focus on a particular region or market, or open themselves up to a global perspective.

Thinking Highways (North American Edition) will address the issues that directly affect the following markets in the USA, Canada and Mexico:

  • advanced transportation management
  • intelligent transportation systems
  • homeland security, cross-border mobility
  • public transit
  • transport security

  • Each issue of Thinking Highways (North American Edition) will, however, contain two or three articles from around the world to give a flavour of what is happening in other parts of the globe.

    Geography

The disparate climatic conditions, geography, demography and economies of states such as California and North Dakota mean that a traffic solution that is perfect for one is completely inappropriate for another. The markets for advanced transportation management, for example, are as different in Florida and Montana as they are in the UK and Brazil. This underlines our reasoning behind regionalising Thinking Highways.

    Coverage

Thinking Highways (North American Edition) covers the following subjects: ITS, advanced traffic management, public transit, advanced traveller information, vehicle location, electronic road pricing, road user charging, homeland security, satellite tolling, congestion charging, urban design, urban aesthetics, vehicle infrastructure integration, electronic mapping and spatial networks, communications, ANPR, vehicle detection and classification, tunnel safety, VMS, smartcards, simulation and modelling, DSRC, intelligent parking, lane-keeping and collision avoidance, intelligent infrastructure, transportation security, GPS, GPRS, GNSS, Floating Vehicle Data.
