NEW
ETC, etc is a magazine that looks at not just the technology but also the policy, strategy, political, aesthetic, urban design, environmental, interoperability and public acceptance issues that make the electronic toll collection, road pricing and road user charging sector one of the most, if not THE most, vibrant and rapidly evolving in the advanced transportation management industry.
EDITORIAL
Taking in all aspects of the global electronic road pricing industry, ie electronic toll and fee collection, road pricing, road user charging, congestion charging, satellite tolling and so on, ETC, etc's 10-strong, multinational advisory board, together with its award-winning writing team, ensures the highest quality of editorial standards.
Issue one features case studies, opinion pieces, location reports and interviews from the UK, USA, Canada, Australia, Germany and the Netherlands. ETC, etc is packed with highly readable, fascinating, thought-provoking and often controversial articles ... all superbly designed to give it a wonderfully contemporary look.
CONTRIBUTORS
Among the authors who have written for ETC, etc's issues to date are Bern Grush, Harold Worrall, Jack Opiola, Bob McQueen, Andrew Pickford, Harvey Appelbe, Jean-Christophe Benistant & Miguel Jauregui, Prof Phil Charles, Malavika Srinath, Paul Potters and Tim McGuckin.
FREQUENCY
Twice yearly, in March and September.
READERSHIP
ETC, etc is distributed to the following types of organisation in more than 60 countries worldwide: national and state transportation departments, highway authorities, ITS divisions of national, state and local authorities and agencies, electronic toll collection system suppliers, toll concessionaires, motorway authorities, government agencies, thinkers, planners, manufacturers, consultants, systems specifiers, policy makers, politicians from all parties, traffic engineers, police departments, emergency responders, public transit authorities, homeland security officials, system integrators, universities, state, county and city traffic departments and car manufacturers.
WHY
Road pricing is an increasingly global, albeit thorny, issue and the May 2006 publication of the US Department of Transportation's 'National Strategy To Reduce Congestion On America's Transportation Network' white paper has highlighted just how seriously governments the world over are taking it.
Former US Secretary of Transportation, Norman Y Mineta, echoing similar governmental approaches in Europe and South-East Asia in particular, described congestion as "one of the single largest threats to our economic prosperity and way of life" and points out the staggering statistic that Americans lose 3.7bn hours and waste 2.3bn gallons of fuel sitting in traffic jams each year. So, if the governments are taking it this seriously, so should we. ETC, etc is the magazine that this naturally evolutionary industry has been waiting for.
